Matias Fondato is a self-taught Argentine artist born in Rosario in 1982. Today he divides his days between Argentina and England where he lived for more than 8 years. He grew up in General Gelly, a town of 700 inhabitants, and thanks to a professional football career living in 6 different countries, and having traveled to many others, Matias has always been a very visual person, very detailed, very sensitive and above all very curious, even his position on the field during his time as a player constantly required him to use his peripheral vision to have a clear view of the game. Circumstances and these characteristics have led him to discover a large number and variety of different people, realities, cultures, places and landscapes that, in addition to having notably enriched his vision of the world, have helped him to expand his perception and his love for life.

He was always fascinated by crafts and drawing, and thanks to his curiosity he started the path of painting at the end of 2017, while living in Newcastle, England.

His first works were personalized portraits related to football, having a strong connection to it because this was his natural habitat for so many years, but over time after an endless path of research, learning, discipline, constant improvement and perfection, he began to venture and expand into other sectors, always following a line of admiration and personal tastes that lead him to be directly connected to each of his paintings. He is an admirer of world leaders who have marked history either with a strong cultural impact or defending ideals with a great social commitment. He has a great appreciation for the aesthetics of old cars that have marked history. He has a strong connection with music by playing some musical instruments, as well as with certain animals whose characteristics he feels identified with, or even feels that they can impact society. Or the immortalization of landscapes that he has enjoyed during so many trips. All this added to a concern and a constant search inspires him to continue discovering and improving himself. Today, Matias has sold around 100 works, both private and personal collections, and his client list extends mainly throughout Europe, but also to the rest of the world. His paintings can be found in countries such as England, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Slovakia, Liechtenstein, Senegal, Qatar, Turkey, the United States, Jamaica, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia and Argentina.
